Georgia Justice Clergy 100

GJC100 logoRecently, a group of evangelicals led by John MacArthur launched a website presenting a statement on “social justice and the gospel.” In the statement, the signatories claim that the social justice movement endangers Christians with “an onslaught of dangerous and false teachings that threaten the gospel, misrepresent Scripture, and lead people away from the grace of God in Jesus Christ.”

The Loose the Chains faith movement could not disagree more. We believe that social justice is at the heart of the gospel as evidenced in Jesus’s statement in Luke 4: 18, 19.  Moreover we believe that the pursuit of justice is what Christian love looks like in practice.

For this cause, we are bringing togethering a network of pastors who share this belief and commitment to social justice counterbalance to anti-justice theology and ministry. We are calling this group the Georgia Justice Clergy 100.  It is a network of clergy dedicated to creating justice and freedom for the people of Georgia through progressive faith leadership, direct action organizing, advocacy, and political education. They also function as an advisory council to the Loose the Chains faith organizing work. The inaugural mass convening of the GJC100 will be October 23rd, 2018. Stay tuned for further details.
